Ecological environment recognized by the world

Jeungdo Island in Shinan of South Jeolla Province is a clean ecological area that achieved the first ecological grand slam in Asia as the first Slow City, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Ramsar wetlands designation.

Ecological paradise where the nature and humans gather together – UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

UNESCO designated the coastal environment of Shinan county, consisting of the beautiful islands, tidal flats and salt farms, as its Biosphere Reserve, to carry out activities for strict ecological preservation and sustainable development in accordance with the community characteristics.
This is the first-ever case for the tidal flat and salt farm to be designated as the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Therefore, the Natural Sea Salt produced in the Taepyung Salt Farm located in Jeungdo Island designated as the Biosphere Reserve is eligible for the World Renowned Eco-Label acknowledged by the UNESCO for its eco-friendly quality.

Adapting to the flow of nature and environment – Partner company with the world’s first Slow City

Jeungdo Island in Shinan county is the first Slow City in Asia of which value as the traditional culture of Korea (Korea’s Modern Cultural Property No. 360), let alone the tidal flat for Natural Sea Salt, one of the representative slow food in Korea, and the tidal ecosystem. In the Taepyung Salt Farm in Jeungdo Island, the downshifting life occurs by the flow of nature’s time, not by the time of the modern civilization.

Internationally recognized for its value – Ramsar wetlands

Tidal flats in Jeungdo Island in Shinan-gun of Jeonnam retain the mystery of life as its pure form. There are a variety of life forms such as crabs, lugworms, and mudskippers in the salt plant communites, and, even the internationally endangered species including Chinese Egret, spectacled teal, and Eastern curlew. In September 2011, the tidal flats in Jeungdo Island in Shinan-gun of Jeonnam were officially designated as Ramsar wetlands for its ecological superiority and biodiversity, being internationally recognized for its value.

Foundation of healthy life – Tidal Flat Provincial Park

Jeungdo Island in Shinan county has been recognized as the tidal-flat provincial park for the first time in Korea, for the scarcity and importance of its tidal flats and marine ecology. The Salt Plant Garden where various lives from the tidal flats and salt plants full of mystery of life abound and the Taepyung Salt Farm, which is double the size of Yeoeuido area in Seoul, and the Jjangttungeodari (Mudskipper) Bridge where you can observe the tidal flat ecology are the home of healthy life.
