Modern Cultural Heritage
Cheonil Salt Farm registered as Natural Cultural Property
From June 2007, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea launched the campaign to register the Cheonil Salt Farm as the Natural Cultural Property. For this purpose, the Administration surveyed the representative salt farms in five cities and provinces including Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, Incheon and Siheung, and, as a result, the Daedong Salt Farm and Taepyung Salt Farm became the first salt farms to be registered as the Natural Cultural Property. It is expected that the registration campaign for the ‘Cheonil Salt Farm’ as the Natural Cultural Property should heighten attention from the people in Korea toward the ‘Cheonil Salt Farm’ as the field of life and the tourist attraction and the ‘Natural Sea Salt’ that comes from it.
